The brand-new 60-foot catamaran by Lagoon has claimed victory in the multihull category at the prestigious Design Innovation Award, held during the Genoa Boat Show. Featuring innovative solutions such as foldable aft bulwarks, the Lagoon60 has demonstrated its ability to combine functionality with cutting-edge design.
The award, presented during the official ceremony at the Palazzo della Borsa in Genoa, was established in 2020 by Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici to celebrate excellence and innovation in the nautical industry. The goal is to promote the image of exhibitors through their latest products, symbols of emerging trends and the new frontiers of nautical design.
The selection of winners is entrusted to an independent jury composed of national and international experts, including designers, industry journalists, researchers, boat owners, and institutional representatives. This diversity ensures a broad and in-depth evaluation of the competing projects. The Design Innovation Award recognizes the ability of designers and manufacturers to excel in design, research, innovation, and sustainability.
In the Multihull category, the Lagoon60 was described by the jury as a “catamaran with character, featuring a fluid layout that conveys calm and safety”, reasons that allowed it to stand out clearly from its competitors.
“The Design Innovation Award celebrates quality, innovation, and sustainability in the nautical sector during the Genoa Boat Show,” commented Simone Morelli, the main European dealer for Lagoon shipyard. “Each year, the best examples of designs and products presented by exhibitors are rewarded, and there is great satisfaction with the victory of the Lagoon60, which today stands out as the top choice among cruising catamarans. This model, introduced last March in Bordeaux, marks the beginning of a new era of catamarans designed to meet the needs of those who want to experience the sea without sacrificing style and comfort in harmony with the environment.”
